Use of court video link doubles

The number of people using a video link service to give court testimony in Guernsey has more than doubled in a five-month period.

Guernsey Victim Support, which runs the island's Witness Service, said 13 people had used the link from January to May, up from six for all of 2008.

The link allows witnesses to give evidence through a camera in a separate room from the court room.

The charity also said about 26 people a month were using all of its services.

About 130 people contacted the charity in the first five months of the year. Of those, 62 of those were about domestic abuse incidents.
