Prison drug tests set for change

Attempts are being made to reduce the amount of time spent carrying out drug tests at Guernsey prison.

All inmates at the prison, which can accommodate more than 100, have to undergo random testing and the current method is a urine sample.

But this has to be supervised and can take up to five hours.

The Home Department is recommending that less time-consuming methods are used such as taking hair samples, or a swab of saliva.
