Call for reduction in shops tax

Tax on retail properties in Alderney should be significantly reduced, say politicians representing the island on Guernsey States.

Alderney representatives say shops operate at lower levels of activity and profitability than their counterparts in Guernsey.

Richard Willmott and Bill Walden want to provide some measure of relief to businesses in Alderney.

The States Assembly will discuss the amendment next week.
