Mother plans two-wheel memorial

Motorbike

The mother of a young man killed in a motorcycle accident in Guernsey is organising a round-island charity motorbike ride in his memory.

Ben Davies, 25, died after his motorbike collided with a car near St Peters earlier this month.

The bike ride is in aid of Caritas Community Charitable Trust, a charity which helps vulnerable young men.

Carol Healy said Ben was "your average local boy" and she wanted to do something to benefit men of his age.

"I thought it was something that was desperately needed, this will be a very great honour"

She said: "He was your average 25-year-old local boy, very much into his Guernsey way of life.

"Because the charity is really aimed at his peer group and young people, he either knew or might have known in the future, I thought it was something that was desperately needed.

"This will be a very great honour to spearhead the launch of public fundraising for the charity."

Ben's funeral will take place on 2 September. The charity ride is planned for 7 September.
