Gunman kills relatives in Bosnia

A Bosnian Croat man shot dead six of his own relatives in a village near the north Bosnian town of Tuzla before being arrested by police.

Police reportedly stopped the gunman, 45, as he tried to reload his pistol after killing three people in their homes and three on a bus.

A seventh person was seriously wounded in the attacks, which took place at about 0600 (0400 GMT).

Police said they were still trying to establish a motive for the attack.

Police and witnesses say Tomislav Petrovic entered two family homes in the village of Gornja Lipnica, killing two people in the first and one in the second.

He then entered a nearby bus, killing another three people and wounding the driver, before being arrested.

The victims' ages ranged from 48 to 50, a police spokesman was quoted as saying by the Associated Press news agency.

Witnesses said he had been behaving strangely for some time and suffered from depression.

The Tuzla region, in Bosnia's Muslim-Croat federation, is home to thousands of mainly Muslim (Bosniak) refugees displaced in the 1992-95 war.
