Spanish police have arrested one of Colombia's most-wanted drug traffickers in Madrid, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.
Orlando Sabogal Zuluaga, 40, was arrested by officers at a shopping centre in Majadahonda on the outskirts of Madrid last Thursday.
Mr Zuluaga is alleged to be second-in-command of Colombia's notorious "Norte del Valle" cartel.
The cartel is believed to account for up to 50% of global cocaine traffic.
The "Norte de Valle" organisation is accused of smuggling more than 500 tonnes of cocaine into the Unites States since 1994 with a value of more than $10bn.
The cartel is also believed to be responsible for more than 1,000 murders in Colombia.
The US state department's Narcotics Rewards Program had offered a reward of $5m (£2.6m) for information leading to his capture.
