Kosovo mass grave unearthed

Kosovo mass grave unearthed
French peacekeeping troops in Kosovo have arrested several people after the discovery of 28 bodies in a mass grave, officials said.

Kosovo: Special Report
They said the bodies were found in the northern town of Kosovska Mitrovica.

At least four people have been arrested and a fifth was questioned as a witness, according to a statement issued by the peacekeepers.

The grave was discovered during searches for 23 people who disappeared after a raid by Serb paramilitaries in April.

A spokesman for the French troops said more than 20 bodies had been exhumed.

Seven bodies have been identified as being among those rounded up by the paramilitaries.

Five other Serbs have also been arrested near the southern town of Orahovac in the past three days on suspicion of murder, the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague said.

War crimes tribunal spokesman Paul Risley said the suspects will be tried by international authorities in Kosovo.
