Mir's latest computer failure has been repaired

Russian space officials say the crew of the orbital station Mir have repaired the computer fault that led to the loss of much of its power.

The officials say the crew have now regained full control of Mir's orientation system.

The computer's latest failure on Friday caused the shut-down of the gyroscope system, that keeps the electricity-producing solar panels facing the sun.

The Russian space station was plagued by breakdowns and accidents last year, including a collision with an unmanned cargo craft in June.
