Turkish raid on Kurdish bases in Iraq leaves 86 dead

The Turkish army says it killed eighty-six members of the separatist Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) during its latest cross-border raid into northern Iraq.

Turkey said it had now completed the operation, which began last week to prevent the PKK fighters from regrouping after another attack earlier in December.

Iraq has condemned the Turkish raids, saying they contradict the principles of international law.
