Once again, no damage in Levent, Feneryolu, Küçükyali, Bostanci, etc. Almost all of Istanbul slept outside last night at news of "strange underground activity" around Bursa. So did Bursa. Life is still going on though. Also, although a lot of people (including me) critisize the government for the lack of coordination and slow response, it is a grave mistake to urge people not to send material help to the country, because the government will not distribute it. Please keep your prejudice to yourself just during this catastrophe and do not turn this board of hope into a political mud-throwing arena.

Response who are looking for their family and friends in Yalova.
Unfortunately, there has beem enormous loss in this area. But there are also really big miracles. You can not reach them by phone even with mobile, people are not staying in their houses and mobiles are maybe working on very late at night. The schools' gardens are safe and people are living there that cannot leave the city because almost everybody has lost and they are taking care of their patients and helping for the others. As I learned they urgently need water, food and medicine. petekerdem@hotmail.com

I wonder if you might ask her if she can find anything out about the whereabouts of 21-year-old Shona McAdam from Plympton in Plymouth. She is a nurse and flew in to Istanbul with her boyfriend Dr Naser Alobaid. It's hoped they are helping victims, but it is possible they were caught in the quake themselves.

The death toll in the earthquake in Turkey is rapidly increasing, and so do the needs of the survivors. The Turkish people need our help. The following is a partial list of US NGOs providing aid. It will mean a lot if you can put the list on your web site and mention it in your broadcast; if not you can at least direct them to: http://www.interaction.org/turkey/index.html where they can find the list amd some information. It would be of great help if you can disseminate it to your friends and co-workers too. The suffering is great, and the least we can do is to donate some money to these organizations so that they can provide some relief to hundreds of thousands in need. Thanks in advance.

Fil Ziembicki, United Kingdom

To Caroline Koroglu: I believe there has been a big misunderstanding which will have serious concequences. Please do not stop the donations to the Turkish government. It is true that all neighbouring villages are providing all the help because all people are willing to help and do sth. However that doesnt mean that the donations to the government are not being used. Please dont send messages like that because Turkey needs every kind of help and these kind of messages prevent the people who tries to help. What you have said in your message is completely wrong, please correct it. How can a government can prevent the donations to rech these poor people? That is really ridiculous.
