FOOTBALL : The English premier league club, Arsenal, have have signed the Croatian international striker, Davor Suker, from the Spanish club, Real Madrid.
Suker, who is thirty-one, was the top scorer in last year's World Cup with six goals, and is being sold for about five-and-a-half million dollars.
He replaces the twenty-year-old French international, Nicolas Anelka, who is expected to complete a move from Arsenal to Madrid tomorrow for a fee of more than thirty-five million dollars.
The Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, said at a news conference in London that the two deals were entirely separate. Suker who is Croatia's record goalscorer, has played for eight years in Spain but correspondents say he has been out of favour at Real Madrid since having disputes with the club's manager.
