The lower house of the Russian parliament, the Duma, is to hold its debate on the government's proposed budget for next year on Friday -- two days later than scheduled -- after crisis talks with the Prime Minister, Victor Chernomyrdin.
The budget has been held up by a series of rows between the government and the opposition Communist party, which dominates the Duma.
The Communists most recently demanded the resignation of the reformist deputy prime minister, Anatoly Chubais, who is the central figure in a scandal over fees for a publishing deal.
At the weekend, President Yeltsin reprimanded Mr Chubais over the scandal, and sacked two of his close associates.
