Russian ice-fishing tragedy

Six Russian anglers have drowned after the car they were driving across a frozen lake Ladoga near St Petersburg fell through the ice and sank.

Two others managed to swim to safety.

Ice-fishing is hugely popular in Russia and authorities routinely warn fishermen not to take risks at this time of year, when the ice gets thinner.

But every year many ignore the warnings and several are stranded on floating ice or drowned.
