Militant attacks, arrests in Kosovo

The Serbian authorities say ethnic Albanian militants from Kosovo have attacked Yugoslav army units on the buffer zone separating Kosovo from the rest of Serbia.

They say this is the first time the militants have acted against the army.

Their attacks are normally aimed at Serbian police.

A local Serb police officer said there were no casualties in the two alleged attacks, on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo, K-FOR, says it arrested eight ethnic Albanians suspected of belonging to the same militant group the UCPMB, as they tried to move into southern Serbia. K-FOR also seized some light weapons and uniforms.
