Braun blasts England over fans
The president of the German Football Federation has accused England of failing
to clamp down on the thugs who threaten to wreck Euro 2000.
Egidius Braun, who is also chairman of Euro 2000's organising committee, hit out at England for not banning hooligans from travelling to the tournament in Holland and Belgium.
It is not the best idea by your country to do nothing
German Football Federation president Egidius Braun
England's match with Germany in Charleroi on June 17th is a key concern and Barun feels the Germans have done what they can to try and prevent problems at that match.
"It is not the best idea by your country to do nothing," said Braun.
"We have confiscated passports to try to avoid trouble in Charleroi.
Punished
"They are not allowed to leave the country and if any of them attempt to,
they will be punished very hard."
There has been some suggestion that the Home Office will take similar measures
and English Football Association spokesman Steve Double said: "We have asked the
government do all they can to stop the troublemakers travelling."
