Lichfield Studios to showcase art

The late photographer Lord Lichfield's studio in London is being reopened to showcase international contemporary art, it has been announced.

Works by leading German photographer Ursula Schulz-Dornburg and American conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner will be installed at Lichfield Studios.

The exhibitions will be curated by Tristan Hoare and Wilmotte UK.

The first display, which opens on 18 November, deals with concepts of time and pattern.

Hoare plans to show artists who are rarely seen in this country in three to four exhibitions each year.

Wilmotte, the practice of celebrated international architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, will alternate with architecture focused exhibitions.

For Schulz-Dornburg's first major UK show, Hoare has selected work from the artist's seminal Sonnenstand/Solar Position series.

Weiner's typographic work, Turned As the World, will be mounted on the outside of The Lichfield Studios, complementing the subject of time.

Lord Lichfield died at the age of 66 in 2006 after suffering a major stroke.

He was the Queen's first cousin once removed and was the official photographer at the wedding of the Prince of Wales to Diana.

In a career spanning 40 years, Lord Lichfield also worked for Vogue and photographed many stars, including 60s singer Marsha Hunt, Sir Michael Caine and Joanna Lumley.
