The million-dollar ceremony was hailed as the showbiz wedding of the year.
The couple are reported to have signed a lucrative deal for photographs with a French magazine.
The only wedding photograph to be released to the media showed Jennifer Aniston in a bodiced white silk dress and a traditional long veil designed by Lawrence Steele.
Her hair, which started a craze for "Rachel" styles across the world, was worn long and natural.
The bridesmaids wore pale green silk chiffon slip dresses.
Brad, 36, also went for traditional wedding style with a dark suit and tie.
No expense spared
It is reported that the million-dollar wedding included expenses such as $100,000 (£75,000) for security, $75,000 for flowers and $20,000 for fireworks.
Reporters and paparazzi had been staking out the wedding site for days but tight security kept them away from the reception site.
Helicopters buzzed overhead before the event, as a large white tent mushroomed at the location to ensure privacy.
But airspace was restricted over the site during the actual ceremony - the couple had hired a former Israeli secret serviceman to run security.
Part of the Pacific Coast Highway was shut down to accommodate the guests and workers.
Absent from the ceremony was Jennifer's mother, Nancy, who had been deliberately left off the list in a very public demonstration of the rift between mother and daughter.
Nancy, 60, has told how her daughter fell out with her in 1996 when she made some comments on an American tabloid TV show about Jennifer's hair.
Hot property
The intense interest in the couple's union is not surprising since it brings together two of Hollywood's hottest names.
Brad Pitt has been on the leading men A-list since he rose to fame as Geena Davis' six-packed love interest in the movie Thelma and Louise.
He has starred in a run of high profile and acclaimed films: A River Runs Through It, the thriller Seven, and most recently the controversial Fight Club.
Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand, has made a number of largely unremarkable outings on the big screen.
But the actress remains ingrained in the public's psyche as the scatter-brained Rachel in the long-running hit series Friends.
The show, which follows the trials and tribulations of a close-knit group of young people in New York, has made global household names of Jennifer Aniston and co-stars Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.
Publicity-shy
But despite living their individual lives in the spotlight, as a couple they have done their best to keep things under wraps.
They shun publicity and rarely appear out together.
Rather more perhaps is known about their previous relationships.
Jennifer Aniston was with actor Tate Donovan for two years.
Brad Pitt has dated Robin Givens - the ex-Mrs Mike Tyson - and had a three-year relationship with actress Juliette Lewis.
Most notably, however, he was previously engaged to Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow. She reportedly dumped him "for not setting a date".
