T In The Park security check

Eight people died and 25 were injured on Friday in a crush of fans while US rock band Pearl Jam were performing at the event.

This weekend sees 50,000 fans descend on Balado, near Kinross for T In The Park to see acts including Travis, Macy Gray, All Saints and Supergrass.

Festival head Stuart Clumpas said he was being kept fully updated with the investigation into the deaths at Roskilde.

"Now some of the facts of what happened are beginning to come to light, we are double-checking the relevant safety procedures already in place to ensure that they are as failsafe as possible," he said.

He added the timing of acts' appearances was also being looked at, to try to prevent crushes at the front of stages.

"We hope artists will agree to be more flexible with times in the interest of public safety," he explained.

Clumpas, who founded the event in 1994, said he would continue to liaise with security and emergency services, and his team would reassess their contingency plans for bad weather. The ground was muddy from rain at Roskilde last weekend.

Despite the deaths, Roskilde continued during the weekend, and ended on Sunday when Danish group D-A-D lit eight torches - one for each victim - and circulated them in the crowd at the main stage.

A 22-year-old man from Melbourne, Australia, remains in a serious condition in hospital, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
