Girls Aloud top reality rich list

Girls Aloud

Pop group Girls Aloud have topped a reality TV rich list, followed by singers Will Young, Leona Lewis and late Big Brother star Jade Goody.

Girls Aloud, who found fame on ITV's Popstars: The Rivals, have made £25m since 2002, according to the list.

Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts and Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates both feature in the top 10.

The chart features the top 25 people or acts which have launched their careers though reality programmes.

It estimates that Pop Idol winner Will Young is worth £12.5 million and Leona Lewis, who shot to fame on The X Factor, has earned £10 million in three years.

Jade Goody, who passed away earlier this year after finding fame on series three of Big Brother, amassed a fortune of £8 million.

Myleene Klass

The first ever Big Brother winner Craig Phillips, meanwhile, has made £5 million after sustaining his on-screen career.

In fifth place is Myleene Klass, who took part in the ITV talent show Popstars.

According to research, the star who is regularly seen in Marks and Spencers adverts and also participated in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, has banked £7.5 million.

Gates - who came second to to Young - has made an estimated fortune of £6.5 million, while tenor Potts is thought to have around £5 million in the bank.

Soul singer Lemar, who stepped into the spotlight after being on the BBC show Fame Academy, has raked in £4 million, and rounding off the top 10 is Jane McDonald with £3.5 million.

The singer became a firm favourite with fans of the docusoap The Cruise and has gone on to launch a successful singing career as well as co-presenting the ITV show Loose Women.

The list was compiled after discussions with talent agents, production companies, accountants and journalists.

It also includes newspaper and magazine fee-based interviews, follow up TV shows, tours, book deals, and personal appearance fees.
