Depeche Mode cancel further shows

Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode have cancelled more European tour dates due to singer Dave Gahan's ongoing health problems.

The 47-year-old is still undergoing tests after being struck down with gastroenteritis, according to the electro-pop band's spokesman.

The group have cancelled an appearance in Turkey later, as well as dates in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.

Fans are being told to keep tickets, as announcements will be made regarding rescheduled gigs in the near future.

In a statement, the band said, "[we] apologise to all their fans for this inconvenience and wish Dave a speedy recovery".

The group were only three dates into their European tour when Gahan fell ill shortly before going on stage in Athens on Tuesday.

Originally, he hoped to be able to return to play the show on Wednesday night, but the rescheduled date was also called off.

Thursday's gig in Istanbul has now been postponed, as are the following four dates:

• Izvor Park, Bucharest, Romania - 16 May

• Vasil Levski Stadium, Sofia, Bulgaria - 18 May

• USCE Park, Belgrade, Serbia - 20 May

• Zagreb Arena, Croatia - 21 May

Depeche Mode recently released Sounds of the Universe, their twelfth full-length album.

It has been number one in the pan-European album charts for three weeks. In the UK, it peaked at number two earlier this month.
