Make-up artist sues Queen Latifah

Singer and actress Queen Latifah is being sued by a make-up artist and a fashion stylist for $1m (£700,000) in alleged unpaid work.

Make-up artist Roxanna Floyd claims she lost $700,000 (£490,000) when the star failed to pay her for work she did between July 2005 and February 2008.

In a separate case, stylist Susan Moses alleges she is owed $300,000 (£210,000) for work she carried out.

A spokeswoman for the star said the legal actions had no merit.

The legal papers were filed on Monday in federal court in Manhattan.

Ms Floyd claims she is owed for helping develop, produce and market the Queen Collection - the Grammy award-winning singer's line of cosmetics for CoverGirl.

Ms Moses alleges Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, promised her a $50,000-a-year salary for advising the star in her role as the spokeswoman and model for a lingerie line that targets fuller figured women in 2005.

The star was last seen on cinema screens in the 2008 film The Secret Life of Bees and will be reprising her role as the voice of woolly mammoth Ellie in Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.
