U2 to perform new single at Brits

U2

U2 are to perform their new single Get On Your Boots live at the Brit Awards on 18 February.

The track is taken from the Irish band's forthcoming album No Line on the Horizon, due out in the spring.

It is U2's first LP since 2004's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, which picked up eight Grammys in the US.

Brits committee chairman Ged Doherty said: "Their addition to this year's show makes it possibly the best we have ever had."

U2 have won seven Brits, including five best international group awards, best live act and the outstanding contribution to music prize in 2001.

This year's outstanding contribution recipients are Pet Shop Boys, while newcomers Florence & The Machine will collect the critics' choice award.

The show, which is being held at London's Earls Court, will be broadcast live on ITV1.
