Le Saux kicked off ice dance show

Graeme Le Saux and Kristina Lenko

Former footballer Graeme Le Saux became the first celebrity to be kicked off ITV's skating show Dancing on Ice.

The 40-year-old ended up in the bottom two, alongside investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre, as judges and viewers votes were tallied.

Both celebrities were forced to skate again, with the judges picking MacIntyre's performance as best, leaving Le Saux out of the contest.

The opening week of the show saw just the seven male celebrities skate.

Next week it will be the turn of the six female contestants to take to the ice for the first time, led by their trainer Jayne Torvill.

The celebrities have spent months training for the competition, which was last year won by Hear'Say singer Suzanne Shaw.

Le Saux said: "I thoroughly enjoyed it, I mean it's short but sweet.

"I'm going to miss all the guys - the skaters, the other celebs because we built up a really good little team spirit."
