Obama girls may join Montana show

Barack Obama and his family

President-elect Barack Obama's two daughters have been invited to appear on the children's TV show Hannah Montana, musician Billy Ray Cyrus said.

Cyrus is the father of the show's star, Miley Cyrus, and also plays her dad on the Disney series.

He said Malia, 10, and Sasha Obama, 7, had been asked to take part in an episode to be filmed next year.

Speaking to US channel Access Hollywood, he said: "They probably will. The invitation is there."

'Secret'

He added: "You know the Hannah Montana film comes out in April. Maybe something might happen around then."

However he refused to reveal anymore details as he said it must be kept a "secret".

Hannah Montana is about a school girl with a secret life as a pop star.

Mr Obama, who was elected to become the first black president of the US last week, has said in interviews that Malia is a big fan of the show.

It is not yet known whether he will permit his children to take part in the series.

Miley Cyrus, who turns 16 later this month, told Access Hollywood it would be "really cool" if they did join the cast.
