McConaughey surfers deny assault

Matthew McConaughey

Two surfers have denied assaulting a photographer who was allegedly thrown into the sea as he tried to photograph actor Matthew McConaughey.

Skylar Peak, 24, and Philip Hildebrand, 30, are said to have confronted several paparazzi on a beach in California who were taking pictures of the star.

One photographer claimed he was attacked and had his camera hurled into the water during the incident in June.

McConaughey was surfing at the time and was not directly involved.

A pre-trial court hearing has been scheduled to take place on 14 January in Los Angeles.
