Surgery on Jade Goody 'went well'

Jade Goody

An eight-hour operation in which reality TV star Jade Goody had a hysterectomy "went well", her publicist Max Clifford has said.

"She's got the best people looking after her," he added, as the 27-year-old remained in intensive care at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

The mother-of-two is expected to begin a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy lasting nine weeks.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer last month.

The news was broken to her as she appeared on the Indian version of the show which made her famous in the UK, Big Brother.

Tests on Goody earlier this week confirmed the disease had not spread further around her body.

Her children - three-year-old Freddie and Bobby, who is five - are staying with their father, Jeff Brazier.

Goody's on-off boyfriend, Jack Tweed, is currently in jail, having received an 18-month sentence for assaulting a teenager with a golf club.
