The first series of Little Britain USA is to air on BBC One in the autumn.

The show, starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams, was filmed in the US and will feature regular characters including Vicky Pollard and Emily Howard.

New creations include devoted gym buddies Mark and Tom, and potty-mouthed little girl Ellie-Grace.

The show, made for cable channel HBO in the US, features former Friends star David Schwimmer, who directed sequences filmed live with a studio audience.

Other new characters in the series include Mildred, who shares inappropriate secrets from her past with grandson Connor, and Bing Gordyn, the eighth astronaut to fly to the moon.

Another fresh creation, Mildred, is powerless to resist suggestions from her manipulative pet spaniel Mr Doggy.

Returning characters who viewers will remember from Little Britain include Fat Fighters bully Marjorie Dawes, and Harvey, a grown man who still feeds on his mother's "bitty". David Walliams and Matt Lucas

Lou and Andy, some of the most popular comic creations of recent years, will also return.

The existing characters have been placed in a modern US setting for the series, which features cameos from Sting, US talk show host Rosie O'Donnell and actor Paul Rudd.

One trailer for HBO shows Vicky Pollard being enrolled into an American boot camp for young offenders.

Little Britain USA's executive producer Simon Fuller said: "Little Britain USA is a show we made for HBO.

"However, we always had in mind our British audience and hope everyone enjoys the new characters as much as they do the familiar ones."

He added that the anticipation for the new shows in the US has been "remarkable".

The new series is due to make its debut on US screens on 28 September.
