Hunniford attacks Ross' TV style

Former chat show host Gloria Hunniford has criticised BBC presenter Jonathan Ross' interview technique.

The 68-year-old told the TV Times she felt guests on the BBC One show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross were used as "a platform for the star's own humour".

She said: "If you have a major Hollywood star as a guest, you want to hear about them rather than just talking about sex all the time."

Despite that the veteran star admitted she does like Ross' show.

She compared Ross to Sir Michael Parkinson, who ended his chat show career in December.

"Take Jonathan Ross. I like his show but he uses his guests as a tool for his own humour, whereas Parky would try to learn about them," she said.

Last year, Sir Michael took a swipe at rivals such as Ross and Charlotte Church.

"Mine's the last of the classic interview based chat shows. The rest now are just comedy shows. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not what I do. So this is it. I'm done," he said.
