US rock band Poison are accusing their former record label of underpayment and breaching contract rules.
Legal papers filed in Los Angeles allege Capitol Records and EMI Music Marketing miscalculated years of royalties dating back to the 1980s.
Bret Michaels, Rikki Rockett, Bobby Dall and CC Deville had hits with Every Rose Has Its Thorn and Talk Dirty to Me in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Representatives from Capitol and EMI have not yet commented.
According to the band's lawsuit the group tried to examine their financial records, kept by Capitol, but the firm did not fully cooperate.
It stated it cannot determine how much money it is owed and asked a judge to order a full and independent audit of Capitol's books.
The band are seeking "unspecified and incidental damages",
