Pete Doherty 'scraps solo album'

Pete Doherty plans to start solo album again

Peter Doherty has admitted he wants to ditch the solo album he has been working on and begin afresh abroad.

The singer and Babyshambles frontman said he wanted record the album from scratch in Portugal and Paris.

He told music magazine NME that his recent spell in prison had led him to "re-think" his plans.

Doherty was released from Wormwood Scrubs prison last month after serving 29 days of a 14-week sentence stemming from drug and driving offences.

"I've re-thought everything about what I'm going to do with the solo record," Doherty explained.

"[But] I'm not allowed out of the country until my probation licence is up, which is a little while."

Doherty has been working on the solo project over the past year with producer Jake Fior, who managed his former band The Libertines in its early days.

He had already recorded several songs for the album, including Darksome Sea which he co-wrote with his friend and frequent musical collaborator Wolfman.

Despite his claims, the singer posted a YouTube video which showed him recording new track Broken Love Song last week.

But wherever the album is recorded, Doherty's record label, EMI, have asked for it to be delivered by September.
