Angry Kid nets viewers

Angry Kid
Angry Kid - a new animated character by the creators of Wallace and Gromit - has made his screen debut exclusively on the internet.

The red-haired character, a Parka-wearing, bicycle-riding adolescent boy from a dysfunctional family, holds 60-second diatribes against the world around him.

He is the latest creation from Aardman Animations, the Bristol-based company behind the Oscar-winning adventures of Wallace and Gromit and the Creature Comforts ad campaign.

The company is broadcasting his first set of 25 one-minute adventures exclusively on the net with episode one now available to download from the AtomFilms website.

Michael Rose, head of film and TV productions at Aardman, described Angry Kid as "anarchic, irreverent and definitely not suitable for family viewing"

"He is perfect for the internet," he said.

Swearing

Angry Kid will target his parents, school and other typical adolescent gripes in his 60-second rants.

One episode of his adventures, called Bone, is in competition for a short film prize at the Cannes Film Festival, which starts on Wednesday.

In it, the hero falls off his bicycle while riding with his hands off the handlebars and exposes the bone in his wrist.

He soon finds his wound the object of unsolicited attention from a hungry dog.

The new adventures are being broadcast by US-based AtomFilms, which recently started showcasing the best of Aardman's back catalogue on its website.
