Duffy leads Mojo awards shortlist

Welsh soul singer Duffy has received three nominations in this year's Mojo Honours List.

The 23-year-old is shortlisted in the categories for best album and breakthrough act, while her hit Mercy is up for song of the year.

Arctic Monkeys and the side project of their lead singer Alex Turner, The Last Shadow Puppets, both received two nods.

The list is organised by the monthly music magazine and the awards are held at a ceremony in London on 16 June.

And other honours to be handed out will include inductions to a Hall of Fame and a lifetime achievement prize.

The publication's editor-in-chief, Phil Alexander, hailed a set of nominees who had "genuine musical quality".

"In an increasingly disposable age, they represent music that's built to last," he said.

"There is a sense of authenticity and integrity that runs through all of these artists and Mojo is proud to celebrate their achievements."

The Last Shadow Puppets are nominated for breakthrough act and song of the year for The Age of the Understatement, while Arctic Monkeys are up for best album and best live act.

Other contenders for best live act include Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Rufus Wainwright and former breakthrough act winner Seasick Steve.

However Radiohead received only one nomination this year, in the best album category for In Rainbows.

Robert Plant's album collaboration with Alison Krauss earned him a nod for the same award.
