Protesters set for Crook premiere

Train drivers are gearing up to protest at the UK premiere of Mackenzie Crook's latest film, Three and Out.

Crook plays a driver who tries to find someone who will commit suicide under his train so he can get compensation.

Train union Aslef has criticised the subject matter of the film, but the distributors have said the issues were "handled sensitively".

Union members will hand out leaflets outside the premiere which is being held in London's Leicester Square.

The leaflet will read: "We hope you enjoy the movie tonight, but please remember that for train drivers like ourselves, deaths on the railway are never funny."

Crook told the BBC last week that he was "disappointed" people had been "jumping to conclusions".

"They're imagining we've made a very distasteful, bad-taste film, which we haven't," he said while promoting Three and Out in central London.

"Hopefully those people who have objected will go and see it and realise they have got the wrong end of the stick."

Aslef said it had received strong support from the public over its opposition to the film.

General secretary Keith Norman said: "These incidents can mean life-changing traumas for drivers."
