Second series for Lily Allen show

Singer Lily Allen's BBC Three chat show will return for a second series, it has been announced.

The first series of Lily Allen and Friends featured star guests including Brit Award-winning producer Mark Ronson and US actor Cuba Gooding Junior.

The 22-year-old singer's show was used to relaunch the channel in February.

The BBC said the channel's audience share among 16 to 34 year olds in the month since relaunch had risen by 44% compared to the same period last year.

Bored

The 45-minute show will return for another eight programmes.

Allen said: "I'm thrilled that we're going to make a second series of the show, it's been such a laugh.

"I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who tuned in and I can't wait to film series two."

BBC Three controller Danny Cohen said the singer had "developed astoundingly well as a TV host in just a few weeks".

After the show's first instalment, Allen denied that some audience members walked out of the recording because they were bored.

"Due to it being the first show we've done we ran over a little," she wrote on her blog.

"Naturally a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever they came from. "

She added: "Standing in a hot studio for two hours watching me fluff my lines is not my idea of fun but they seemed to enjoy it."
