"Not a bad day at the office is it?" says a perfectly groomed Hilary Swank, with a wide smile.
She's talking about her forthcoming movie PS I Love You in which she gets to kiss all three of her male co-stars: Gerard Butler, Harry Connick Jr and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
If you recognise the title of the film, it's because it's based on the international best selling book by Cecilia Ahern.
It follows Holly Kennedy as she copes with the loss of her husband and love of her life, Gerry.
It may sound quite a morbid subject matter, but as the story unfolds so does a story of hope as Gerry has left behind a trail of messages to help Holly get back on her feet again.
And with ex-Friends star Lisa Kudrow on board as one of Holly's best friends, the movie has a lot of laugh-out-loud moments.
"Lisa is so hilarious in this movie - as is Harry Connick Jr. I think he had some really hilarious lines as well," says Swank.
The relationship between Holly and Gerry is pivotal to the film, which begins with a mammoth argument between them.
'Range of emotions'
It shows the depth of their affection as well as their closeness. It was also Swank's favourite scene even though she had to learn 12 pages of script.
"It was a real acting opportunity, because there was such a range of emotions within it," she says. "There was never one take like another."
At one stage, filming had to be halted when Swank needed stitches after a suspender clip hit her in the forehead during a striptease scene.
"Gerry was doing a striptease and was playing with his braces. The suspender clip part connected onto a piece of furniture - it stretched about 10 feet," she recalls.
"Then it just came off and flicked across the room into my forehead like a rocket. The perfect little suspender clip teeth stuck right into my forehead."
Surely that must have hurt?
"It did. But I'm here, I'm living," she smiles.
"I do a romantic comedy and I get stitches to my forehead. I do a whole boxing movie and my face goes virtually unscathed. It's crazy."
Academy advice
The boxing movie Swank is referring to is Million Dollar Baby, for which she won her second Academy Award.
Her first was for 1999's Boys Don't Cry. At 33, she is the third youngest winner of two best actress statuettes, after Luise Rainer and Jodie Foster.
So what advice does she have for Keira Knightley who, at 22, has found her performance in Atonement shortlisted for a Golden Globe, and is also tipped for Oscar success?
"It's so crazy to think that I'm in any position to give anyone advice especially on the Academy Awards. I love my job and I'm grateful to be a working actor. I would say - just be in the moment and enjoy it."
And what will the audience will take away from PS I Love You?
"I think people will see that it's a great love story, and it's important to not take the one you love for granted because you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow."
PS I Love You is out in UK cinemas on 4 January.
