Gest in hospital with chest pains

David Gest Former I'm A Celebrity star David Gest has been admitted to hospital with chest pains and respiratory problems.

The 54-year-old, who is actress Liza Minnelli's ex-husband, was taken ill at his home in north London in the early hours of the morning.

He was taken to a private hospital in London where he is receiving treatment.

"David is stable and receiving the best medical attention. We are awaiting a further update from doctors," a spokeswoman said.

Gest set up home in Britain after finding fame on ITV1 reality show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! last year. Last week he appeared in panto in London.

Earlier this month, he sold off his huge collection of music memorabilia - including more than 120 gold singles and albums - at an auction.

His health problems come days after Minnelli collapsed as she came off stage in Sweden.
