Former politician Michael Portillo is to chair next year's Man Booker Prize for Fiction judging panel.
A previous judge of the Costa book prize, he is now a pundit on BBC One politics show This Week.
Comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, Ottakar's bookshops founder James Heneage, critic Alex Clark and novelist Louise Doughty complete the jury.
The winner of the 2008 prize - won this year by Anne Enright's The Gathering - will be announced on 14 October.
It will be selected from a shortlist of six books unveiled in September, taken from a long list to be announced the previous month.
The Booker Prize, which honours the best fiction written in English by an author from the UK, the Irish Republic or the Commonwealth, celebrates its 40th anniversary next year.
