Director Tim Burton is to make a 3-D film of Lewis Carroll's novel Alice in Wonderland, it has been reported.
According to trade paper Variety, the film will use a mixture of live-action and performance-capture imagery of the kind seen in current release Beowulf.
The Disney feature will be written by Linda Woolverton, whose credits include The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
The film - which will begin production early next year - is one of two Burton projects lined up with the studio.
The other is Frankenweenie, a feature-length adaptation of his 1984 short film about a dead dog reanimated by his owner.

Burton will write and produce the 3-D film, which - like his earlier Nightmare Before Christmas film - will be presented in stop-motion animation.
The 49-year-old was in New York this week to screen footage from his upcoming Sweeney Todd musical at the Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts.
The film, which stars Johnny Depp as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Burton's partner Helena Bonham Carter, is released in the UK on 25 January.
Bonham Carter is currently expecting her second child with the Planet of the Apes director.
