A collection of works by several artists including Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso have sold for $395m (£188m) at an auction in New York.
A 1937 Matisse painting, L'Odalisque, Harmonie Blueue, sold for $33.6m (£16m) at Christie's, smashing the artist's previous record of $21.7m (£10.3m).
The artwork had been expected to fetch $20m (£9.55m).
A 1955 Pablo Picasso work, Femme accroupie au costume turc (Jacqueline), went for $30m (£14m).
'Wildest hopes'
Several other paintings also set auction records for their creators, including Camille Pissarro's Les Quatre Saisons from 1872, which sold for $14.6m (6.97m).
Paul Signac's 1889 Cassis. Cap Canaille went for $14m (£6.68m).
The 1916 work Portrait du sculpteur Oscar Miestchaninoff by Amedeo Modigliani, fetched $30.8m (£14.7m), which was just below the current record for the Italian artist.
"Broadly speaking, it was an extraordinary result," said Christie's honorary chairman Christopher Burge.
"It exceeded our wildest hopes."
However, a piece by Paul Cezanne, which had been expected to fetch anything up to $16m (£7.6m), failed to sell.
An August Macke work estimated at up to $25m (£11.9m) also did not find a buyer.
