Allen brother takes on Equus role

Alfie Allen Alfie Allen, brother of singer Lily Allen, is to star in Equus, reprising the role Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe played earlier this year.

Allen, son of actor Keith Allen, has already starred in several films, most recently in Atonement with Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

In Equus, the 21-year-old will play a disturbed youngster who blinds horses. The role features a naked scene.

The play will begin a nationwide tour starting in Chichester on 31 January.

It may transfer to the West End later this year.

Writer Peter Shaffer recommended Allen for the role after seeing him in Atonement.

Allen is soon to appear in a 1900s spin-off of BBC One medical drama Casualty.

The Londoner will play an East End gang member in Casualty 1907 - a three-part series following on from last December's pilot, Casualty 1906.
