French actress Catherine Deneuve will be honoured for her career at the Los Angeles Film Festival next month.
The 63-year-old star will be the subject of a tribute along with US actress Laura Linney.
Festival director Christian Gaines said both stars "embody the raw promise of a fine performance".
The American Film Institute event, which runs from 1 to 11 November, opens with Lions For Lambs, starring Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep.
Lifetime award
A screening of Persepolis, an aminated film for which Deneuve provides the lead voice, will follow the tribute.
Linney's latest release, The Savages, will also be shown at the event.
Deneuve, whose credits include Belle de Jour and Dancer In the Dark, was nominated for an Oscar in 1993 for her role in Indochine and has won two Cesars - France's equivalent of the Academy Awards.
Last year she won a lifetime achievement award at the Bangkok Film Festival.
Linney, who has had two Oscar nominations, co-starred in The Truman Show alongside Jim Carrey.
On the small screen she played Mary Ann Singleton in Tales of the City.
