Stellar presence at Stardust gala

Michelle Pfeiffer The stars of cult adult fairytale Stardust have attended the UK premiere of the film in London.

Michelle Pfeiffer, Sienna Miller and Charlie Cox were among those on the red carpet in Leicester Square.

The film's stellar cast also features Robert De Niro, Sir Ian McKellen and Peter O'Toole.

Cox, 24, who plays Tristran in the big-screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 1999 novel, said working with big-name Hollywood stars was "exciting".

'Dream come true'

He said: "It was very exciting taking on such a huge role with so many Hollywood legends.

"I felt like a deer in the headlights."

Cox is best known for his portrayal as Sienna Miller's younger brother in Casanova.

Director Matthew Vaughn said he was thrilled to have such an illustrious cast.

"I got every actor I wanted, which was fantastic," he said.

Office star Ricky Gervais said his role as Ferdy the Fence, an opportunistic trader, was "a dream come true".

"I got to put on a silly hat, ad-lib and work with Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer," he said.

Take That, who recorded a song for the film called Rule The World, were welcomed at the premiere by hundreds of screaming fans.

The film sees Tristran set out to recover a fallen star as a token of affection for his unrequited love, Victoria, played by Miller.
