Clooney hurt in motorcycle crash

George Clooney Hollywood star George Clooney has been injured in a motorcycle crash in New Jersey, across the Hudson river from New York City.

Clooney and his passenger were hurt when his motorcycle collided with a car on a narrow road on Friday.

The Ocean's 13 star suffered a broken rib and scrapes, while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot.

They were treated in hospital and later released, Clooney's spokesman Stan Rosenfield said.

"He's doing fine. He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal," he added.

Clooney and Ms Larson, who were both wearing helmets, were travelling north and sped up to pass on the right a car that was preparing to make a right turn, Weehawken police Sgt Sean Kelly said.

The accident is under investigation.

But Mr Rosenfield said the accident had occurred when the vehicle signalled a left-hand turn, but turned right and struck Clooney's motorcycle.

"The car signalled left. George was riding to the right. The driver decided to make an abrupt right turn and clipped George," he said.

Clooney, 46, is in the New York area to film Burn After Reading, co-starring Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

The accident should not interrupt the film's schedule, Mr Rosenfield said.
