'Inactive' Gabor has leg surgery

Zsa Zsa Gabor in 1986 Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor is to have surgery to treat a "severe infection in her legs", her publicist has said.

The 90-year-old Hollywood celebrity will have the operation in Los Angeles on Tuesday, John Blanchette told the Associated Press news agency.

He said she had been "inactive for the last four years" after being partially paralysed in a car accident in 2002 and suffering a stroke two years ago.

Gabor has famously had nine husbands and slapped a police officer in 1989.

Her film career was at its peak in the 1950s, when she appeared in movies including Moulin Rouge, Touch of Evil, Lili and Queen of Outer Space.

But the Hungarian-born star is better-known for her colourful private life and glamorous persona than her acting.

She has one child, daughter Francesca Hilton - who is the great aunt of Paris Hilton.

Her current husband Frederic von Anhalt admitted an affair with model Anna Nicole Smith, and said he may have been the father of her child.

Gabor also earned her place in Hollywood legend when she was jailed for three days for slapping a Beverly Hills police officer who stopped her for driving with expired number plates.

Two years ago, she had emergency surgery to clear a blocked artery after having a stroke.
