Ronson joins Electric Proms bill

Mark Ronson New York based producer-DJ Mark Ronson will team up with the BBC Concert Orchestra for a special performance at this year's BBC Electric Proms.

Candie Payne, Lily Allen, Terry Hall and Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess are among those joining Ronson for the performance at London's Roundhouse.

This year's festival runs from 24-28 October at venues around Camden.

More than 80 acts will take part in the 2007 event, including Kaiser Chiefs, Jamie Cullum and Eliza Carthy.

It is being billed as "specifically designed to create new moments in music" through collaborations between new and established acts or new material performed for the first time.

'Truly special'

Kaisers Chiefs will team up with David Arnold for a new approach to the arrangement and performance of some of their best-known tracks.

Other performances so far announced include Jamie Cullum paired with Japanese club jazz band Soil and Pimp Sessions.

The five days of events will feature on a number of BBC platforms, including Radio One, Radio Two, Radio Three, 1Xtra, 6Music, The Asian Network and World Service, BBC Two and online.

Festival director Lorna Clarke said: "I am delighted that the first artists on this year's line up have embraced the central challenge of the Electric Proms - to create new moments in music.

"I know that they will give our broadcast audiences across the country something truly special."
