Boy George bailed over 'assault'

Boy George Singer Boy George has been arrested over allegations of false imprisonment and assault in London.

Scotland Yard confirmed an arrest took place in Shoreditch on Saturday, after a 28-year-old made a complaint.

It has been reported the 45-year-old singer - whose real name is George O'Dowd - invited the man to his house to pose for photographs.

A police spokesman said he has been bailed to return in July pending further inquiries.

Mr O'Dowd first burst onto the music scene in the 1980s as the frontman of Culture Club.

He then went on to reinvent himself as a solo artist, respected club DJ and as the writer of autobiographical musical Taboo.

Last year, he and his former bandmates exchanged heated criticism of each other via the media after Culture Club reformed without him. He is said to have called his replacement "terrible".
