Crime thriller Disturbia, which centres on a suspected serial killer, has stayed on top of the North American box office chart for a third week.
It held off drama The Invisible, which follows an adolescent ghost aiming to avenge his murder.
The Invisible opened in second place with an estimated $7.6m (£3.8m), while Disturbia took $9.1m (£4.5m)
Nicolas Cage's film Next made its debut in third place, having taken $7.2m (£3.6m) over the weekend.
Chart-topper Disturbia stars 20-year-old Shia LaBeouf as a house-bound teenager whose surveillance of neighbours uncovers a killer.
In total it has raised $52.2 million (£26.2 million) since its release.
Police drama Fracture took fourth place and ice skating comedy Blades of Glory fell to fifth position.

At number six is the Disney computer-animated film Meet the Robinsons, about a child orphan inventor and his saga to save the future.
British police comedy Hot Fuzz followed in seventh place after earning $4.8 million (£2.4 million).
Horror film Vacancy sits at eighth place, with The Condemned following at number nine.
The Condemned stars wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as one of 10 death row inmates who must fight for their freedom in a reality TV-style competition.
