Police contact Big Brother's Jade

Jade Goody on Big Brother Police investigating alleged racism on Celebrity Big Brother have made contact with former contestant Jade Goody.

Hertfordshire Police have approached Goody and her mother Jackiey Budden with a view to interviewing the pair.

Goody, who was evicted last week, was accused of leading racist bullying against Indian actress Shilpa Shetty while on the Channel 4 reality show.

Goody has denied being racist but told the News of the World she admitted making racist comments.

A police spokeswoman said: "An investigation into allegations of racist behaviour inside the Celebrity Big Brother house is continuing.

Man watching Celebrity Big Brother "Hertfordshire Constabulary can confirm police will be making approaches to speak to housemates if and when appropriate once they have left the house.

"We are also making contact with two of the housemates who have already been evicted but at this stage no interviews have taken place."

Officers may also approach Friday's evictees if they are relevant to the investigation.

Presenter Davina McCall started Friday's show by saying: "This series of Celebrity Big Brother has divided the nation like never before and we genuinely regret any offence this has caused some people."

Shetty is odds-on favourite to win the contest when the show ends on Sunday.

Voting mistake

Early votes for Friday's double eviction had to be cancelled after viewers were mistakenly told a vote for Indian actress Shilpa Shetty would help save rather than evict her.

Voting lines were re-opened from scratch after Thursday's programme and producers are offering to refund the 50p charge from any votes cast before that.

"This was a genuine mistake which was due to human error," production company Endemol said.

"Viewers who voted can have a full refund and any unclaimed monies will be donated to charity.

"Following this error, the profits from Friday night's re-opened eviction voting will also go to the candidates' charities."
