David Gest gets own reality show

David Gest David Gest, who appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, is to get his own reality TV show in the UK.

The music producer was best known for being the estranged husband of singer Liza Minnelli - but became a star in his own right on the jungle show.

Gest, who counts Michael Jackson as a close friend, said he expected the fly-on-the-wall ITV1 documentary to be "an absolute blast".

The programme is due to be screened later this year.

Gest admitted he was surprised by the positive reaction to his time on I'm A Celebrity.

'Absolute revelation'

"I have been astounded by the incredible reaction and the thousands upon thousands of letters I have received since leaving the jungle," he said.

"It has been mind-boggling and I want to thank the public for their overwhelming support."

Layla Smith, ITV1's controller of alternative programmes, said: "He was the star of I'm A Celebrity - an absolute revelation and completely captivating.

"We can't wait to go behind the scenes with the man himself - the nation want to see it."
