WAGs to get own reality TV show

Cheryl Tweedy and Victoria Beckham The WAGs are to battle it out in the fashion world in a new reality TV show.

Ten WAGs - wives and girlfriends - of footballers are to run rival London shops in the ITV2 series, WAGs Boutique, due to be shown next year.

The channel could not confirm who would be taking part, but said the WAGs were a "phenomenon" and that the series would be "unmissable entertainment".

The England team's partners attracted considerable press coverage during this summer's World Cup in Germany.

Mentors will advise the women during the 13-week challenge, with the winning team choosing a charity to receive the shops' profits.

The WAG who individually makes the most money will win the opportunity to design her own clothing range.

Steven Andrew, programme director of ITV digital channels, said: "The WAGs are a phenomenon and will become the talk of the town as they battle it out to see which of them has the determination, intelligence and staying power to run their very own boutique."

The series is due to be broadcast from January 2007.
